Dominican Salons in Texas

There are 2 salons that are in the North Dallas Area! I have yet to try them. I was planning to get a blowout the week after the 4th of July since my family is having our Annual Reunion.  Due to a recent setback of my hair breaking I have decided to do a 6 month weave challenge to get my hair back on track.  At the end of December I plan to get a Dominican blowout.

Hot Days!!

It’s getting quite hot here in the Dallas area that means Summer is pretty much breaking in.

So I’ve uped my regiment game and decided to add in some Co-Washed and Extra DC to keep my lovely relaxer stretching tresses moisturized.

My Co-Wash/Extra DC days are Tuesdays & Thursday — Yes I get one today.

I have also decided to try my hand at bun baggy which is how I’ve been wearing my hair lately to work. It’s been going good so far…Hopefully that means I will surpass my hair goal by the time my Corrective Retouch Day comes along.

The Verdict!

Looks Like the Verdict is in.

This weekend’s wash was the best ever! It was the first time in hair washing history I had no hairs all over the place – in the shower, in the comb,etc. Detangling was such a breeze.

I DC with AO GPB Conditioner + AO White Camellia Condtioner. I applied AO GPB first in sections followed with AO White Camellia on the last few inches on my hair concentrating on the ends. I left that on my hair for 20 minutes.

I then hopped in the shower to rinse and began shampoo with Giovanni Smooth as Silk Shampoo. Talk about Moisture & Luxuourios hair afterwards. It was like the first time I thought – “Hey do I really need to follow with the conditioner.” My hair was amazing. There wasn’t much to detangle- Matter of fact it was breeze. So much slip it was ridiculous.  I followed with the Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner. Let that sit for 5 minutes while I did my business in the shower.

Then I cool rinsed out and proceed with my rollersetting. For the rollersetting I used Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner + CHI Silk Infusion.

Overall, I loved loved my hair. This makes stretching a breeze and the best in products that I have ever used on my hair. Mind you I have 2″ + in new growth. My rollerset came out great and I will continue with it as I am on a Personal 70 day NO DIRECT HEAT CHALLENGE until July 11th, 2008.

THE TWO LINES ARE BOTH KEEPER. I do doubt I will ever try the AO Shampoo as I haven’t heard to many good raves about them. So why spend $ when I don’t have to.

On Trial: Giovanni vs Aubrey Organics

Hi Everyone,

So I went to Whole Foods and picked up a few items. I got some trial sizes of the 2 brands in Hair Court! LOL!!

Anyways, I got the following:

1.  Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo
2. Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner
3. Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture Conditioner
4. Aubrey Organics GPB Balancing Conditioner
5. Aubrey Organics Whie Camellia Ultra Smooth Conditioner

 While I was shopping at Whole Foods the Help Lady in the Organic Hair Care section, explained that the reason many people don’t like AO’s shampoo is because they are so use to the lather that they become turned off to the fact that AO doesn’t lather or hardly suds. Also, noting that with Giovanni Shampoo you get more of a lather.

I personally don’t feel one way- I just don’t want to be stripped!!!!

Trial will proceed with evidence investigation on Tomorrow, Saturday May 3rd 2008 – For hair washing!

4 Year Chart Comparison

 I made a 4 Year Chart Comparison. Looks like I’m on schedule depsite all my trimming, dusting and S&D’s that I have done over the course of my journey. I’m so happy and proud of myself now that I see that I am making progress!

Time Consuming!? by Kamiko

Okay so it me or do you feel like hair has consumed a better part of your life than previous? Before I started taking extra care or care period of my hair, I was focused more on things like Career and School and Social life.

Now it seems like I am looking to get things in order for personal reasons like: MBL Hair goals (I want long long hair) then there is getting back to my fitness goals when I was pure toned and just abs self especially in High school. Now, it’s like finances is another thing since I want to meet all of my 2008 goals. I have other hobbies besides hair 24/7. There so happens to be POKER POKER & MORE POKER!! Yes, I am like the Tom-boy girl (not too girly and not too boyish)

I am an analytical person so this game of Poker is totally up my ally and easy. Did you know some people make a living out of Poker with career earnings of 2.5 million off of one Tournament game. Need I mention that there are a handful of Female Top Poker Pros! So what seems to be your time consuming 24/7 passion at this moment?

 

 

 

New Product Search by Kamiko

Have you ever found yourself on a search for new products that are more cost efficient, better ingredients and product overall?

Well, I have and I am currently in a research search for great products that work as well or better than the Joico lines I’ve accustomed myself to. I didn’t mind spending the money but the store i bought them at is a Chicago branch store called Cosmoprof which isn’t available in Texas. I received great discounts with my student card.  So now what’s a girl to do when she doesn’t want to spend 2x the amount to replenish her line – find something else!

So far, I have looked back at Elucence which worked really good for me as natural but their line is so small and doesn’t have all that I am looking for. If you haven’t noticed I am pretty much product loyal especially if the product line works for me like Mizani Butter Blend!! That will be my relaxer until forever (unless they change ingredients or something) which ever occurs first!

But I have been looking at AVEDA – They did my BC when i went natural October 6th 2005 and a great job they did. I have also been looking at Kenra and NTM. I will continue this search and check out : Aubrey, Giovanni, Abba, etc.

My main thing is I want a sulfate-free shampoo, GREAT MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER REGULAR AND DEEP CONDITIONING, a good protein treatment in the collection, nice styling product that doesn’t weigh down hair but helps prevent frizzing, humidty but allows for great straight and curly styling such as roller-sets, rod-sets and blowouts.

I AM ON MY MISSION  –>> TO FIND MY PERFECT LINE OF PRODUCTS –>> WISH ME LUCK!!!

Domincian Blowouts in TX! by Kamiko

Dominican Salons in TX! Yes there are some here in Dallas Area. I haven’t had the experience yet but do plan to do on or about May 17th.

I’ve heard good and bad about having Dominican Blowouts. Good such as coming out with fly, shiny, straight hair or bouncy, silky curly hair. Bad such as super hot blowdryers, heat damage, and thining hair.

I have very thick hair but don’t think for one second I will someone wash all my hardwork down the drain or on the floor.

I plan to bring in a heat protectant (I always use one when heat will be on my or near my hair), a wide tooth comb, my camera, and a watchful picky eye. 

I would like to see if its done any different from what I do or what steps am I missing at home. I am relaxed but I have lots of texture left in my hair as I don’t relax to be bone straight but just enough to loosen texture of hair and make more easy to manage.

I know in TX that many haven’t been able to find salons – I found a lady who does dominican blowouts but I don’t think the salon is dominican based. But I’m sure it will be a good experience and will definetly post back with pictures and results!!

 

 

New Term for BSL is … BSB!!!

As much talk has circulated on LHCF http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208819&highlight=bsb

I never really thought much about the term BSL (bra-strap length) I guess if one is wearing a ill-fitting or improper fitting bra then the length measurement could be deceiving. So the new term in replacement is BSB (below shoulder-blade or bottom of shoulder-blade)

I actually like the new term as my bra is right there. Also the shoulder blade is universal on the human body. So BSB IS MY NEW NEXT GOAL AS I AM ONLY 3″ AWAY!!! =D
